This is a booklet published in Venice, 1614, by Adriano Banchieri . It contains many didactic pieces with two or three voices, with comments written as a dialog between the master and the pupil. It contains also some variations on themes by Lassus, by Cyprien de Rore, and by Monteverdi.
The first pieces teach the right way to deal with rhythm and dissonnance in counterpoint, and also voice leading in ecclesiastic tones and modes as defined by Adriano Banchieri.

The whole booklet has been entered now! However, I can't refrain from telling you that I'm feeling some trouble about it: the first didactic pieces sound quite renaissance (that's why I began to include the booklet despite of its date), but the following musical examples sound sometimes quite differently, and I wouldn't say I like all of them. For instance, some rhythmic changes between long and short values are too steep according to my taste, and I don't like so much the idea of writing a quick counterpoint against a cool pastoral melody. But, taking in account that Banchieri is so famous, these comments are probably more about my own taste than about his mastership...
