Comments: Information from owned CD. A superb recording !
Pierre-F. Roberge
The source for the present manuscript is a collection found in
the Dominican Monastery at Bad Wimpfen. The source was used to
rebind another manuscript, and so is badly damaged. However,
substantial portions survive, and many pieces are at least partly
reconstructed by cross-referencing from other sources. Although
it contains some Notre Dame style polyphony, the primary portion
of the manuscript is Ars Antiqua motets for three voices. The
origin of the pieces is strongly argued to be the Paris region, as
they are entirely in the mold of the usual
Parisian motet of the period.
