This CD contains most of the pre-1955 recordings but not all; many have been previously re-edited in the LP anthology (EMI HLM 7 7234), but the latter contains material not re-edited this time (i.e. Two Handel 78s: H.M.V. C 4222 "O Thou that tellest - Messiah and Alma de Gran Pompeo - Giulio Cesare" and B 10 682 "He was despised - Messiah).
