Chansons de la Renaissance
This disc presents an anthology of French parisian chansons by Clément Janequin, among the most well-known of this composer.
We have here the best example of the Parisian chansons. Sometimes saucy (Il estoit une fillette), sometimes poetic (Toutes les nuictz), sometimes funny, (M'y levay par ung matini), sometimes descriptive (Le chant des oyseaulx), all of these songs are some of the most beautiful pages of French music in the period.
For this repertoire see also Fricassée Parisienne)
