Comments:
Information from owned CD.
This mass is only attributed to Dufay, although we know that he
composed such a mass (the manuscript, contained in his will, has
not survived).
He also wrote another mass in honour of St Anthony "Mass for
St Anthony of Padua" (already recorded by The Binchois Consort:
Hyperion CDA 66854). It was found in
one of the Trent manuscripts, but this anonymous mass, in honour
of St Anthony "of Vienne" or "of the Viennois"
was found in another Trent manuscript, and bears a stylistic
resemblance to Dufay's other works.
I was not able to find trace of a previous recording of this
mass.
The final track is Binchois' only surviving isorhythmic motet,
partially reconstructed for this recording.
