Thomas Morley (1557/8-1602) inherited the English monopoly on
printing from William Byrd in 1596. He
is also known for his famous & insightful Plain and Easy
Introduction to Practical Music (1597). He wrote in all forms,
although his madrigals are perhaps his most idiomatic works.
