This is a recording of Ockeghem's two masses for three voices, neither mass using a cantus firmus. The Missa Sine nomine is in the older style of three-part counterpoint expanded rigorously from a two-part framework (similar to the contemporary chanson), while the Missa Quinti toni has a more unified (and luminous) texture. These two mass, despite being somewhat old-fashioned in the choice of three voices, are among Ockeghem's most interesting and original compositions.
