Instrument: Harpsichord, Bruce Kennedy after 17th century French
(Chaumont temperament, a=392)
Playing time: 75'
Recording date: July 1996
The harpsichord books of Nicolas Lebègue (1631-1702) were
published in 1677 (tracks 1-28) and 1687 (tracks 29-40). His first
book was the second harpsichord publication (after
Chambonnieres) to be issued in France,
and in fact the first to use the unmeasured prelude and to organize
by suites.
A companion organ recording devoted to Lebègue:
- Lebègue: Pièces d'Orgue
