This is the first program to be devoted to Johannes Martini
(c.1430-1497), one of the earliest composers to leave a surviving
body of instrumental music.
Although it's attracted relatively little interest from performers,
Martini's surviving output (mostly from Ferrara) is actually quite
substantial. Some previous programs to feature his music:
- Obrecht: Missa Malheur me bat
- The Clerks' Group - Edward Wickham
AS&V Gaudeamus 171
- Mynstrelles with Straunge Sounds
- The Earliest Consort Music for Viols
Clare Wilkinson / Rose Consort of Viols
Delphian 34169
- Compère: Missa Galeazescha
- Music for the Duke of Milan
Odhecaton - Paolo da Col
Arcana 436
- Josquin: Missa Hercules Dux Ferrariae
- A Sei Voci - Bernard Fabre-Garrus
Astrée 8601
- The Diamond of Ferrara
- Music from the Court of Ercole I
