The content of this CD has been previously released as Studio SM 30 14.51 (LP) - "Lamentations grégoriennes plaintes cléricales IXe-XIIIe siècles"

These pieces are monophonic except for track #6. The basic subject matter is the Biblical lament. As always with Le Vot, the expression is very direct.

More recently, it has been argued based on notational style that Sol eclypsim patitur was probably written for Ferdinand III, King of Castille, who died in 1252.
