P2 CAP 22035 [CDx2] Musica Sveciae: Folk Music in Sweden –
Den medeltida balladen
Comments:
Information from LPs & CDs booklet
Excerpts from CD booklet: One major venture of this kind
[production of vocal traditional swedish music] in 1962 [by Swedish
Broadcasting Corporation] was "Den medeltida balladen"
(The Medieval ballad) – a boxed set of four LP records complete
with a book describing and analysing the ballad as a song form.
That release ... atttracted well-merited attention from both Swedish
and international researchers. Three out of the four LP's were
based on Matts Arnberg's field recordings. The contents of these
three records were as follows: Record 1 – ballads performed
by traditional singers in Sweden during the 1950s, Record 2 –
ballads recorded by traditional singers in Swedish region of Finland
during a recording tour in 1957, Record 3 – ballads recorded
by the legendary Svea Jansson of the Åland Archipelargo; ....
The fourth record was a reconstruction of a ballad dance, undertaken
at the Ingesund School of Music, under the direction of Nils L.
Wallin.
