Instrument: 6-course Renaissance lute (Klaus Jacobsen, 1997),
gut strings by Mimmo Peruffo, tuned in fifth-comma meantone
Playing time: 60'
Recording date: 1997
The present recording is a studio version of a concert held in
1997 in Milan for Francesco's 500th birthday. It is taken entirely
from a relatively obscure source, one which arguably predates the
first Marcolini print devoted to Francesco in 1536. It therefore
presents a relatively distinct, and earlier, reading of this
music.
