This is a quality program of some wonderful chansons from around 1500. Some of the anonymous tracks are thought to be by La Rue. Although I have generally wanted dedicated programs, this program is one of the most recent on the list, and so well worthwhile.
Although it does not jump out at the listener, this performance is quite enjoyable. There is a variety in the leading voice, and a generally sensitive accompaniment. The canons between two voices are also handled very nicely. This is a program that repays repeated listening.
I suppose my only real complaint is the cumbersome book-style packaging.
