Sound quality: excellent (but very quiet)

Recording date: January 1999 (Paris)

Ravikiran's command and presence comes off much more strongly here than in his other studio recordings. His maturity as a performer is much more in evidence. The present selection is an excellent one, although Mysore Manjunath does not add to cumulative excitement in swara passages in Hemavati as well as could be. The finest points of this recital are definitely the slow melodic passages, to which Ravikiran brings a great sense of poise.

This CD is professionally produced, with documentation. However, it does not seem to have the attention to detail of many Nimbus CDs. The liner notes seem hastily prepared, although likely informative for the newcomer. The very quiet mixing volume on the recording is difficult to understand.
