Scott Ross (1951-1989) - A discography

This is a comprehensive discography of Ross Scott.
[ The planned biography never appeared, and that on Michel-E. Proulx's website, previously linked here, has disappeared — although it can still be found on archive.org. ]
This discography is divided into three parts.

Part I lists the original recordings and re-edited material containing tracks not previously released. Each individual title is (or will be) linked to a descriptive section containing as much information as possible about the original recording; this description lists also LPs or CDs re-edition and is cross-linked to compilations or selections (composite re-editions) that were or are available in North America or western Europe at the date of up-date. Great care has been taken to prevent misinformation and a large part of the data originates from records themselves (although often not as reliable as it should be).
If the recording was not available, the content originates from available sources (National or Universities libraries or periodicals and their yearly published catalogues, if available). Alas! if all this failed, reference was made to the French book "Diapason - Guide de la musique ancienne et baroque" (Coll. Bouquins, Robert Laffont, 1993) [GMAB]; although impressive in term of quality and amount of content, readers should be careful about many recording dates listed. A very well written book (in french, recently recently translated in english) on Scott Ross' career (Scott Ross, Maître du Clavecin - Un destin inachevé, Nanobozoh (Le grand Lapin) Montpellier-Québec, 2002) by Michel-E. Proulx, is available from:

I tried to list titles according to their release dates. In the linked section, I tried to follow the track order of recording; in some cases when the recording was not available, the order may need correction by a careful reader owning the disc. In Part I, my goal is to cover all original recordings, but this may well be wishful thinking without comments and corrections. These could be directed to my e-mail address (pfr@videotron.ca). Credit for any significant contribution will be given at the end of the discography.

The content will always need validation and will be regularly up-dated every 3-4 months or as needed.

Part II lists Compilations and Part III lists Selections by label order (CDs, Video or DVD recordings); I tried to be complete, but the goal is really to inform readers about available recordings on the market. When a compilation or a selection has been re-edited, only the last re-edition appears.

Part IV lists newly released, or soon to be released, CDs / DVDs or when the available information is not sufficient to be added as a specific entry in the preceeding list.
